An Amazing Wizard is a fast-paced, Metroidvania-like 2D hand-drawn pixel art game where you create your own spells to fight enemies. You play as a young wizard on a quest to recover lost memories, conquer the world, and master the powers of 7 elements. Now, players can experience the game for free through its newly released prologue on Steam.
The game is a passion project from Tiny Goblins, an indie development team of two: Gobo, the coder and designer, and Ivan, a freelance pixel artist. The duo has spent the last four years working on the game during their free time, and it was picked up a year ago by indie publisher Erabit from Singapore.
Inspired by Dead Cells, Noita, and Wizard of Legend, An Amazing Wizard focuses on spell crafting and long-range combat. In this procedurally generated side-scroller, you face off against a variety of monsters by experimenting with spells. Players can enchant spells and weapons, merge spells in different combinations, and collect artifacts to create powerful builds. While there are 7 Elemental Wizards, after starting your run, you could also evolve into different subclasses possible for the said wizard type.
The full game is planned for release in Q1 2025, featuring 5 worlds and 5 difficulty levels. As players progress, they will unlock new story elements with each milestone.
On September 27th, the FREE Prologue was released, offering players a chance to experience the following content:
- Fight using 60 spells and a dozen melee weapons.
- Enchant with Spells and Weapons 100 special effects.
- Collect 120 Artifacts.
- Level up with 100 upgrades of varying rarities.
- Merge spells up to 4 times, allowing for unique combinations and effects.
