Pixel Perfect Dude is a small game developer from Poland, that has in the past already released a ski jumping game, Ski Jump VR. It has been released in Early Access on Steam over seven years ago, and it kind of seems like it has been abandoned, and that the full release will never see the light of the day. Their new offering, #DRIVE Rally, has also been released in an Early Access form on the 25th of September 2024, and it looks like it promises more than the ski jumping game. It is an arcade-inspired rally racing game, set in the golden racing era of the 1990s. It features iconic race-winning cars, and also some of the most iconic rally locations around the globe. Kinda.

They unleashed #DRIVE Rally as an Early Access experience, since they think that it is crucial to develop the game based on the players’ feedback, and that only in that way, they will create an extremely fun full release. They are ambitious, but want to continue the game’s development with the community’s support in mind. #DRIVE Rally will stay in an Early Access state for at least a year, and in that period Pixel Perfect Dude plan to bring in new content and improve every aspect of the game. The full version will include additional elements, new content, and adjusted balancing, all based on the community’s feedback. They plan to add more cars, maps and track, new co-pilots you drive with, and additional car customization parts. These customization items will allow you building your cars from scratch to match your racing style, and you will be able to also work on the cars’ body, paint, decals, and other decorations.
Current Early Access version of the game already features complete core systems of #DRIVE Rally, like map generation, track creation, car physics, and customization for your ride. Game’s price might increase at its official release, so make sure to get it at the special introductory price until the 9th of October. I am only saying that, because it is already a pretty fun arcade rally racing game, at least in my humble opinion. It is being made for veteran racing game enthusiasts and rookie racers alike. You are able to race on various tracks, such as on sunny landscapes, through soggy woods, and plenty of other rally stages that are pretty diverse. A lot of well-known exotic car brands are also featured, such as Das Holzwagen (everybody’s favourite, I’m sure), The Doggo, The Bobond, and many more – Das Sandsturm and Celestia are also on their way, at least that is what the developers say.
The addition of co-drivers is a pretty neat idea, as they will not only support you, but also judge you while racing through the track. The goal of a co-driver is bringing your helpful directions and navigation, but also giving tips to improve your driving, and criticizing your moves behind the wheel, because why the hell not? Game’s arcade mechanics bring the “fun” in “simufunlation”, and are very kind, especially to rally newcomers, but also challenging enough for people that live and breathe rally racing games. The racing gameplay in #DRIVE Rally is pretty fun, so I recommend experiencing it, even if maybe for just an hour. But a fair warning – you might get addicted.
You definitely do not need to use your groundbreaking racing wheel and pedals to play #DRIVE Rally, as it will work just as well by using your favourite controller. The game still has some hiccups, but it is also in pretty early Early Access, so I have a firm belief that it will deliver a great overall experience late 2025. Unless it gets dropped by the developers, which I would not like at all.
